Fireweed Yoga was brought to life by Jody DiCastri and Jill Novak. They began with a vision of helping each individual grow from the beauty of their own bodies, like fireweed bursting forth.
Fireweed facilitators are all educators at heart and are passionate about bringing the benefits of mindfulness, yoga, gratitude practices, and meditation to students and staff teams. We are all certified yoga instructors, with first ait and vulnerable sector checks complete.
Jody has a gift in connecting with children and youth. She is the face of our school yoga program and youth classes. Jody embodies "childlike wisdom". She relates to the world of our children with respect and ease. Kids are instantly drawn to how she engages them. Every class with Jody helps kids feel stronger, happier, and more content in their own skin. They are encouraged to shine their own light. Jody is the owner of Alchemy Yoga in Cochrane, and has trained with Yoga Kids International, Alberta Hot Yoga, One Yoga, and Alice Hong.
Jill teaches a healing yoga, one adapted to each and every type of body. There is no one way to do a pose, only the unique and individual way that serves you. This approach works really well one on one and in workshop settings. There is an educator inside of Jill who wants to share all of this knowledge with anyone who is supporting, teaching, and raising our next generation. Jill is an International Certified Yoga Therapist and Yoga Health Coach teaching wellness and personal evolution to all those ready to step into their life purpose.
Bri believes that bodies are our poetry, our stories, and we have the chance to write them newly every time we honour ourselves in movement and mindful attention. In addition to being a mom of two, she is an Alberta certified teacher with both a Bachelors and a Masters of Education focusing on Inclusive Education and Youth Studies. She has completed yoga training with Mandorla Yoga, Mindfulness education with UCLA, and is a certified outdoor educator.
Candice was first introduced to yoga 18 years ago as a way to ease her chronic headaches and back pain. Incorporating yoga and meditation into her daily routine has enhanced her flexibility, body awareness and peace of mind. Candice has completed her 200hr teacher training, 25hr kids yoga training & 30hr pre-post natal yoga training. She is the mother to a high energy child and works to find a ways to blend this energy and the calmness of yoga together. She guides children and youth in yoga to enhance their imagination, gain self esteem, and improve body awareness. You are never to young to start!
